JUMBO MoistureWALL

A report by the World Health Organisation cites dampness and microbial growth on interior surfaces and in building structures as a key contributing factor in health problems such as respiratory symptoms, allergies and asthma. The thermal insulation and ventilation requirements of the South African Building Regulations aim to reduce the risk of condensation and mold growth in new buildings. However, designers should take care to eliminate all possibility of problems caused by condensation, particularly in refurbishment projects.

Jumbo MoistureWALL’s are lightweight, non-load beading internal walls which are primarily used in bathrooms, kitchens and similar humid areas where there‘s exposure to moisture. Jumbo Moisture Resistant (MR) Plasterboard is a lightweight cost efficient interior drywall plasterboard or ceiling plasterboard for use in new construction or renovation work. Jumbo MR Plasterboard can be used throughout a project as well as the adhesive application of ceramic tiles in limited wet areas, e.g., bathrooms, kitchens and laundry’s. Jumbo MR Board can be finished the same as regular drywall’s and they accept a wide variety of attractive finishes.

The MoistureWALL components are light and easy to handle while being quick and simple to install with the minimum of wastage. JUMBO MoistureWALL’s are are dimensional accurate and will not bow, warp or shrink. Standard cut-outs in studs accommodate mechanical and electrical services without the need for onsite machining.

Where ceramic tiles are not used the wall surface must be painted with a coating highly impermeable to water. All junctions between floor and walls must be completely sealed with a silicone sealant. Tiles up to 12,5 mm thickness and 32 kg/m² can be applied on the Jumbo MR board surface. Stud spacing should be reduced to 400 mm centers in tiling areas.
