Steel Brandering Ceilings
Steel Brandering Ceilings
This system is designed as an alternative to timber brandering. The steel brandering is fitted perpendicular to the roof trusses by means of a suspension bracket. (Truss spacings should not exceed 1200mm). The brandering must be fixed at 400 or 500mm centres depending on the thickness of the plasterboard to be used.
Plasterboards are fixed to the brandering by means of 25mm drywall screws at 150mm centres.
Joints can be formed with plastic or steel "H" strip or meranti coverstrips in the case of 6.4mm plasterboard ceilings or taped and skimmed in the case of 9 - 9.5mm plasterboard.
Steel brandering can also be used in bulkhead construction. A range of joiners are available to facilitate easy bulkhead construction.
These systems allow movement of the surface it is attached to without cracks forming in the ceiling.
Steel materials have significant benefits compared to the use of timber. Steel does not age, warp, rot or deteriorate and it is impenetrable against termites, ants, and other pests.
